Visa for working and holidaying

The are two main visa subclasses which cater to individuals seeking to undertake short term work and study in Australia while also enjoying a holiday in the country.

  • Working Holiday (subclass 417) visa

  • Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa

The Working Holiday (subclass 417) visa and Work and Holiday (subclass 462) visa are available to citizens of specific countries and within an eligible age limit. Although both visa subclasses require the applicant to meet the criteria that they genuinely intend to stay temporarily in Australia and fund their stay, each visa subclass is available to only a unique set of passport holders. Further, the Work and Holiday (SC 462) visa has some additional criteria such as English proficiency and educational requirements.

Both visa subclasses can be extended to a second and third year provided the individual has completed specified work for a minimum duration while on their first and second visa respectively.
